Check-Out Hunger

Check-Out Hunger
Fight hunger while on line — the grocery line, that is. During this annual, citywide hunger-relief campaign, grocery shoppers can make a donation to the Food Bank at the check-out of participating supermarkets throughout New York City. Efforts from the 2007 Check-Out Hunger campaign have so far contributed funds for more than 620,000 meals for New Yorkers in need! For Check-Out Hunger 2008, ShopRite, Fairway, Pathmark, King Kullen and Foodtown stores throughout the five borough are coming together to help raise funds for hunger relief. Time Out For Hunger

Time Out For Hunger
Indulge and help New Yorkers in need! Every March, more than 90 of the city's top restaurants donate 10 percent of a day's proceeds to the Food Bank through Time Out For Hunger — a partnership between the Food Bank and Time Out New York. In 2007, New Yorkers who dine out for Time Out For Hunger helped raise more than 230,000 free meals for New Yorkers in need. Check back to see how we did in '08!




Can-Do Awards Dinner

Can-Do Awards Dinner
Save the date for the Food Bank's annual Can-Do Awards Dinner, which offers a chance to honor our partners in fighting to end hunger in New York City. Our largest fundraising event of the year, the 2008 dinner recognized the Food Bank's 25th Anniversary working to fight hunger and included cocktails, live music, dinner, auctions and raffles. The night was hosted by Co-Chairs Mario Batali and Susan Cahn, Honorary Dinner Chair Michael Stipe and Emcee Stanley Tucci and honored Gwyneth Paltrow, Helena Christensen, Acosta Sales & Marketing Company, MTV Networks and West Side Campaign Against Hunger. Stamp Out Hunger

Stamp Out Hunger
For a week every May, look out for food drive bins at your local post office, when the National Association of Letter Carriers conducts its annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. In 2008, food drives held in Brooklyn and Queens helped raise food for more than 25,000 free meals!




Taste of the Nation

Taste of the Nation
Eat, drink and help end childhood hunger! At Taste of the Nation, an annual tasting event to benefit hunger relief, guests sample dishes from New York City's top restaurants, a great selection of wine and cocktails created by NYC's most knowledgeable mixologists.




Shop to End Hunger

Shop to End Hunger
Shop to End Hunger joins retailers and manufacturers with affiliates of America's Second Harvest, The Nation's Food Bank Network, in the fight to end hunger. During this annual campaign, you can purchase selected products at the supermarkets throughout the five boroughs to benefit hunger relief in New York City!

Wine.Dine.Donate
Every September, Epicurious.com editor-in-chief Tanya Steel, celebrated chefs and select local farmers and purveyors come together to offer an evening of fine wine, delicious farm-fresh creations and a great way to benefit hunger relief. In 2008, the NYC Wine.Dine.Donate dinner was held at Irving Mill and featured Fatty Crab's Zak Pelaccio.




Food Network NYC Wine & Food Festival

Food Network NYC Wine & Food Festival
Presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines, the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival features the hottest celebrity chefs and the biggest names in wines and spirits, all set against the backdrop of the country's culinary capital — New York City! Like its sister event, the wildly successful Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival, the festival proved in its first year to be one of the premiere food events in the country. NYC Goes Orange
During NYC Goes Orange — the Food Bank's annual, citywide fund- and awareness-raising campaign — city landmarks, media partners, restaurants, supermarkets, your favorite shops and more show their support by "Going Orange," the color of hunger awareness.




The Lunchbox Auction
When: December 2009
The Lunchbox Auction
The annual Lunchbox Auction benefits hunger relief through an online auction of custom lunchboxes designed by celebrities from the entertainment, fashion, music, art, and culinary worlds. Come December, do your part and find that unique holiday gift by browsing lunchboxes by Mario Batali, Michael Stipe, Beastie Boys, Mike Myers and more. Each lunchbox is numbered and signed; no two are alike.
