FoodChange uses education to foster knowledge and build
skills in children and adults; empower individuals to help themselves
and their communities; and affect change.
Foster knowledge and build skills
FoodChange fosters knowledge and builds skills among
children and adults. Our Culinary Training Program teaches graduates about
nutrition, food preparation and safety, and helps place them in food industry
positions while our Tax Academy trains New Yorkers to be professional
tax preparers. As part of long-term nutrition education, FoodChange’s
CookShop and Vegetable of the Month programs educate school children and
adults about sustainable agriculture, whole foods and healthy recipes.
Empower individuals to help themselves and their
communities
FoodChange teaches people about food, nutrition and
financial empowerment, and encourages them to bring that knowledge back
into their communities, creating new opportunities for growth and a cycle
of self-sufficiency. FoodChange educates people about whole foods and
nutrition, and trains them to become tax preparers and professionals in
the culinary field.
Give children more opportunity by combining academic
and vocational training
As part of a national initiative, FoodChange is a non-profit
partner working with two public high schools in New York City to create
small, specialized schools that combine rigorous academic education with
practical career training which focuses on hospitality management and
the connection between food and finance.
